AWARD
As part of the events to celebrate international Anti-Corruption day on 9th December 2009, the Anti-
Corruption Commission organized the maiden National Integrity Award. They Award seeks to recognize
the efforts of two individuals in our society that have demonstrated an uncompromising commitment to
high ethical standards in Sierra Leone. The award acknowledges individuals with integrity and to make
them a source of inspiration.

CEREMONY AND PUBLIC LECTURE - 9TH DECEMBER 2009
The 9th of December, International Anti-Corruption Day, is a day set by the United
Nations as a day on which global awareness about corruption and the measures taken
against it are brought to the fore of the public domain.

Let me express my gratitude at being given this opportunity to address an issue that is
close to my heart. We are all very concerned about the development of our beloved Sierra
Leone. Development is a very catchy term, related to progress, material prosperity and
sophisticated perceptions of our own society. We usually express multifarious ways in
which we think that development could be brought about.
